Welcome back. Our topic for this half term is; Was Sir Francis Drake a Pirate? (See overleaf for an idea of what we will be covering).
Throughout this half term the children will be completing their KS1 SATs. They will sit 2 maths papers and 2 reading papers. They will be preparing the children for these assessments in class and will endeavour to keep it as low key as possible – we don’t want the children to feel pressure but to just do as well as they can and we are sure that this is your goal too.
As part of our design and technology work we will be weaving pirate flags. If you have any long scraps of fabric, old t-shirts or wool or yarn please could you bring them into school ASAP.
This term we will be having cricket coaching from ‘Chance to Shine’ which is a charity that provides free coaching and teaching resources to schools. This will take place every Monday. The children will have PE with Mr Bain on Wednesday afternoons, and every other Tuesday afternoon. Please ensure your child’s PE kit is in school at all times. Please do ensure that your child’s jumper and PE kit is named.
Even in the summer term, can you ensure that children still have a coat in school every day. On sunny days, can you please ensure that you have applied sun cream to your child before school and that they have a named sun hat. Children’s water bottles should contain only water and should be clearly named and in school every day.
