Here is the latest First News edition, along with two activities to have a look at.
First News Education provides our school with a unique platform for news-based learning, to help us as teaching professionals grow our pupils’ core reading, writing and oracy skills.
Whether it is engaging reluctant readers, improving literacy levels or getting children talking and writing about the news, First News Education teacher tools help us and your children achieve it. Their goal is to equip younger generations with an enriched understanding of the world and the fundamental abilities that they will take with them far beyond school, by delivering a complete solution to inspiring learning through global news.
Now, they are extending their services in these tricky times to help you, as parents at home as well. By following this link:
You can sign up to free digital copies of the newspaper, emailed directly to you. Don't be put off by mainstream media and think that the newspaper is all doom and gloom. First News search the world news carefully for big stories, but also for fun and intersting stories as well.
We use it a lot in school - it is worth a look. We have also been given permission to share our First News Education resources as well - they come in 3 levels. Feel free to dig around and see if there is something that intersets your children (or if you're anything like me... you as well!)
